| Palagetto is representative of the typical large tuscan farm ( the surface area is 208.34 hectars); the main office is located in Palagetto county, in Pomarance.
The developed terrain makes up 151.90 hectars total of which 138 are for growing crops, 13 are for various grape types, and 0.90 is for a small olive orchard. The remaining land is uncoltivated wild bush.
The hilly terrain is made of marine clay deposits and the soil is of sedimentary origin.
The farm specializes in cultivation of grains and cereals which grow on most of the terrain available with wheat grain being the principle crop in alternate rotation with legume crops.
The winemaking process takes place in the farm's new underground cantina. The cantina is about 400 square metres large and is found near the main farmhouse. You'll also find a small olive orchard that is used for extra virgin olive oil production.
In the near future the farm will have spring and summer coltivations of sunflowers and corn. There will also be more specialized vineyard crops developed for IGT red and white wine production.
The red grape varieties consist of Merlot, Cabernet and Sangiovese. |
